Karting Championship | Round Eleven Race Report

We move onto the 2nd to last points scoring round where all drivers will receive double points for their evening’s efforts. 19 drivers arrived to do battle with even more new drivers which is hugely encouraging even at this late stage.

The field headed out for qualifying and with differing experience levels on track this led to some challenging conditions for the quicker drivers. But as is so often the case experience prevails and Adam Blair set the fastest lap with a 72.076 nearly a second ahead of James Cripps in 2nd on a 72.919 and Anthony Ballanger 3rd with a 73.336.

The top 10 quickest drivers got reversed for race 1 and this left newcomer Dean Pappin on pole. He couldn’t hold on however as Hugo Marques sped away from 2nd place. Adam from 10th on the grid began his chase and managed to catch and pass Hugo on lap 11 but the moved did cost him a penalty. Hugo held on for 2nd place and Daryl Palmer coming home in 3rd. the race did unfortunately feature a raft of penalties for some questionable manoeuvres.

For race 2 Joao Regis had pole position and ran away with an impressive early lead. Behind a great battle raged between Daryl Palmer and Anthony Ballanger who swapped positons numerous times.

Meanwhile Adam Blair was making his way from the rear of the field so was proving a superb race. Daryl managed to get 2nd and chased down Joao making up but couldn’t catch him so that’s how the top 3 stayed. Once again the lap record tumbling this time by Adam Blair with a new record of 71.680.

So with one more qualifying round remaining the grid is not set yet with several drivers still able to make some places up for that all important final.
