Karting Championship | Round Seven Race Report
Round 7 had an unfortunate lowly entry of just 13 drivers so to liven up proceedings the decision was made to run qualifying and race 1 on a wet circuit and race 2 on a dry but reversed track.
Drivers went out into the unknown for qualifying and a variety of lines emerged but Daryl Palmer seemed to have the lay of the track taking an early pole and not relinquishing it for the remainder of the session. Luca Martella completed qualifying in 2nd place and David Burton excelling on his first round in 3rd place.
With some trepidation the drivers went out for the first race. As expected there was a degree of contact on the wet surface on lap 1 putting David Burton to the rear of the field. Adam Blair and Daryl Palmer got to the front lap and after a close and frantic race with several overtakes this is how they finished. Has Khalid the best of the rest 20 seconds back in 3rd place.
The track was dried for race 2 and the drivers headed out onto the reversed circuit. Joao Regis used his front row starting position to pull away and lead as flag to flag victory, ultimately 14 seconds ahead of Anthony Ballanger in 2nd and Has Khalid with another 3rd place finish.
